EMBROIDERY ADDED TO BOOTIES
It’s been so long since I have shown you anything in progress. When Baby Lock advertised their new publication of Totally Stitchin’ on their website I had so much fun going through it for ideas and inspiration. Well, the shoe freak in my jumped at the opportunity to embroider something for a pair of shoes. Their instructions are on page 16. I knew I didn’t want to do something as elaborate as they, but I wanted to do something. I looked through the built-in designs on my Destiny II and came up with this simple paisley design by Nancy Zieman.
I prepared my hoop per their instructions and placed one design and then another, but mirror imaging it so I would have a right and left. It didn’t take long to stitch them out. When I finished them, I trimmed the edges and soaked as they said. It is difficult to cut close to the edges to remove the organza and you can see some of it in my pictures, but hey, who is going to be that close to my feet. So, of course, I had to go show shopping. I certainly didn’t want to use a pair in my closet. Those are my friends you know, and I didn’t want to ruin them. So I went to Fred Meyer and found two pair I liked and that I thought would work. You can see that I clipped a design to each of the shoes
and then made my decision as to which one I preferred the appliqué on. You can see that the brown wedge won out. I think they turned out pretty cute.
